A native Kiwi, Ron is one of the best known superyacht designers in the world and the winner of the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards 2019. Beginning his career in the 1970s, over more than 40 years Ron’s work has revolutionised the world of performance sailing yachts. Having designed over 50 30m+ yachts, his varied portfolio includes maxi yachts, superyachts, classic yachts, motoryachts and more, with standout projects including M5, the world’s tallest masted sloop, the eco-friendly Ethereal and a wide range of Perini Navi’s including 60m Perseus3. Ron will lead us through his award-winning career, a look at what’s coming, and his recent travels through the North West Passage on board Perini Navi SY Rosehearty.
Gregory C. Marshall
DESIGNING INTELLIGENT YACHTS. THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON SUPERYACHTS.
For more than 35 years naval architect Greg Marshall has designed some of the world’s finest yachts, always creating unique and thought provoking designs. His long relationship with New Zealand includes the design of 34m VvS1 and 47m Big Fish. Recent ground breaking projects include 80m Artefact, a technologically advanced hybrid yacht with class leading environmental features. Greg will talk about his career, his ambitions for the future including designing “intelligent yachts,” environmentally friendly designs, the use of 3D printing and ways that technology has and will change the design of yachts.
PROBLEM SOLVING IN DESIGN.
A highly-respected naval architect, Gillian will talk about her journey in the superyacht industry, with her 20-year career focusing on management of naval architecture and engineering of large superyachts, and standout projects including 110-metre JUBILEE. While still running her own consultancy she is also a Project Manager of Design at Feadship’s daughter company, De Voogt Naval Architects. Gillian will present on problem solving in design, where the industry is going, and her involvement, via Feadship, with the development of the YETI (Yacht Environmental Transparency Index) programme
